Let me be up front and honest, when we started out with the idea to do a Christmas "Man on the Street" video, it was going to be all about weird Christmas traditions. However as you'll see, it took a strange kind of turn.

Our production staff (Joe and Don) and I had our normal prepared questions about Christmas traditions, Christmas songs, some Christmas jokes -- the usual stuff to ask people about. One of the questions was "In what song do they demand figgy pudding?"

Now, if you're like me, I know nothing about figgy pudding, but it does sound funny. As I asked my questions, I kept coming back to the figgy pudding. As the video continued, I became more and more obsessed with the figgy pudding. By the end of the shoot, I couldn't stop thinking about figgy pudding.

Before you watch the video, I did a little research. Thanks to npr.org, I found out what figgy pudding actually is and where it came from.

Figgy pudding has its origins in England, and is a staple on the British holiday table. It's also known as plum pudding or Christmas pudding. Despite its name, you won't find plums or figs in it. It's actually a steamed cake full of raisins, currants and brandy. Actually doesn't sound that bad.

So now that you know more than you really cared to know about figgy pudding, enjoy the video, and have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
