It's probably one the biggest holidays in America. The Fourth of July - you know, fireworks, cookouts, social distance gatherings. But, I was amazed to find out that most people really aren't sure why we're celebrating, or who we are celebrating our independence from.

You would think with all the hype surrounding the Fourth of July, most people would know exactly what the holiday is all about. You know our independence from the British, and the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

On July 4, 1776, the 13 colonies claimed their independence from England, an event which eventually led to the formation of the United States. Each year on the Fourth of July, also known as Independence Day, Americans celebrate this historic event.

Now, you would think that most people would know this, seems kind of simple, but that's not what I found out. Awhile back, before social distancing, and masks, I went out to see how much people knew about America's birthday, and why we celebrate the Fourth of July. I was amazed at how many people really didn't know the origin of the Fourth of July, or for that matter why we celebrate this date every year.

Check out how confused some people got when asked, 'Why Do We Celebrate the Fourth Of July'.
