Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Connecticut + New York First Work Day of 2021

Looks like the more things change, the more they stay the same. Welcome to 2021, and to kick things off, the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for much of the local area.

Now this is not a big storm, or a nor'easter, but it will be an annoyance for morning commuters as they begin the first work week of the New Year.

The National Weather Service has the Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 7 AM today (Monday), with most of the snow falling northwest of I-95, and continuing through the morning commute. Two to three inches is mainly expected to fall, with up to four inches possible in places like Danbury, Brewster, Waterbury, and Torrington. If your commute takes you down county, expect mostly rain with a possible change over to snow later in the morning before the system moves away by mid morning.

Of course drivers are urged to slow down and use caution especially during the overnight hours before crews treat the road surfaces.

Winter Weather Advisory In Effect Until 7 AM Monday January 4.

What: Mixed precipitation to start, changing to snow. Snow accumulations of two to three inches possible, with an additional inch or two in some locations.

Where: Portions of Connecticut, Dutchess and Putnam Counties, basically northwest of the I-95 corridor.

Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions to impact the morning commute.
