It's a guaranteed gastronomical turn-off if a French fry is droopy and floppy.

I'm referring to the simple yet delicate and delicious fried potato, otherwise known as French fries. I love french fries like a fat kid loves a Double Whopper with cheese, so I feel the need to let you in on which restaurants have some of the best fries in the Danbury area.

    JK's Family Restaurant - Danbury

JK's is one of Danbury's most ageless institutions spanning four generations over eighty years. Their fries are some of the best I've ever tasted, anywhere! Next time you stop by for lunch, order their Seasoned Curly Fries Served on Skillet Monterey Cheddar Cheese and Bacon Bits! OMG!

Five Guys Burgers and Fries - New Milford

I stopped at Five Guys' new restaurant in New Milford soon after they opened to find out what all the buzz was about. I was slapped right across the face with a newfound appreciation of the art of the french fry. Five Guys fries are made with 100% no cholesterol peanut oil and I'd never tasted anything like these fries before. I love ketchup on my fries, but not Five Guys fries because they're exquisite all by themselves with no makeup whatsoever.

    Heibeck's Stand - Wilton

Heibeck's has been serving burgers, dogs, and fries on Rt. 7 roadside in Wilton since 1931. Connecticut Magazine named Heibeck's Stand as their #1 choice for Fries and their #2 choice for Lunch in their 2018 'Best Restaurants' Reader's Poll.'

    Denmo's - Southbury

Denmo's Drive-In in Southbury is another legendary road-side eatery that's been serving up burgers, dogs, fries, and sandwiches since 1978. Reviews I've read also say their fried whole belly clams are the best in Connecticut.

    Sycamore Drive-In Restaurant - Bethel

The Sycamore Drive-In on Greenwood Ave. has been a Bethel landmark since 1948 . Not only is there a '50's vibe that includes car hop service but the big rave is all about their fries, onion rings, milkshakes, and their signature steakburgers. Almost forgot, the Sycamore presents their 34th Annual Summer Cruise Nights every Saturday evening through September from 6 to 9 pm.

    Three Brothers Diner - Danbury

Everyone knows you can order french fries at any old diner but the fries at 3 Brothers are unlike anything I've ever tasted, especially their fries with cheddar and gravy! They also feature curly fries, waffle fries, and sweet potato fries. If you have a specific hankerin' for french fries, march your butt over to 242 White St. in Danbury and treat yourself.

The Tiger's Den Sports Bar & Grill - Ridgefield

For a sports bar, the Tiger's Den features a more upscale menu than most sport's bar. Maybe it's that whole Ridgefield thing. Love the 'Sockeye Salmon Wrap' and their Ahi Tuna Burger. No matter what I order at the Tiger's Den, I always order their hand cut fries to accompany my sandwich which are a bit larger than regular french fries but not as large as steak fries. No flippin' and floppin' fries at the Tiger's Den.

The Red Rooster - Brewster, NY

The Red Rooster Drive-In is located on Rt. 22 in Brewster and happens to be another legendary road-side stand that we've enjoyed for the last 35 years. There's nothing frou frou or complicated about the Rooster, just great burgers, dogs, and fries cooked to perfection along with picnic tables large enough for the family.

    The Little Pub - Ridgefield

Sitting down at the Little Pub for lunch or dinner is a gastronomical adventure because of their unique menu items. Two of my favorite menu selections are their 3 A.M. at the Diner Fries, These delicious morsels are topped with American, Swiss, and Cheddar cheese. I'm also in love with their Steak Frites, which is new york strip, caramelized onions, sauteed mushrooms, garlic crustini, and parmesan fries. Yowsa!
