Danbury PD + Mayor Mark Promote Two Boys in Blue to Detective
Two highly decorated police officers were promoted to the well-deserved rank of Detective this morning (December 6) at City Hall in Danbury.
As shown in the photo above, Detective Ralph Anderson (left) and Detective John Basile (middle) were both sworn in at 10:00 AM this morning in the City Council Chambers, being ranked respectively as number one and number two on the current Police Detective eligibility list.
Detective Anderson became a Danbury Officer in the Spring of 2004, and according to the DPD, has held numerous additional positions during his tenure including being a Community Conditions Officer since 2016, a Field Training Officer since 2015, and a member of the Honor Guard. A letter of recommendation to the City Council from Mayor Mark D. Boughton says that:
During his accomplished tenure as a City of Danbury Police Officer, Officer Anderson has received several letters of appreciation, commendation, and awards including Meritorious Citations in 2013 and 2014.
Also promoted today was Detective Basile, who's been a Danbury officer since May 2006, and has been member of the SWAT Tactical Team and an evidence technician since 2011. He also became a member of the Honor Guard and a Field Training Officer since 2012. In his letter of recommendation, Mayor Boughton had this to say about Detective Basile:
He has continually proved to be a valuable asset to the Department and the Danbury community through his many accomplishments.
Officer Basile's many accomplishments and contributions speak to his dedication to the Department and City for which he serves. I am proud and honored to submit his confirmation for promotion.
Many congratulations and well-wishes to both newly minted Detectives as they move forward into the next chapter of their incredible service to the City of Danbury. We are lucky to have gentlemen such as these at the forefront of our community. Stay Safe!
