Important Safety Tips for Fireworks This Holiday Weekend
It's time to celebrate America's independence this weekend, and party a little bit with those fireworks!
Of course, it's always upsetting to read stories in the paper the next day when people end up hurting or killing themselves because they weren't smart about fireworks usage.
Our friends at FireworksSafety.org came together to make this list to keep everyone safe this long weekend. Some might be redundant, but important either way.
Here are some good safety tips when using fireworks this weekend:
- 1
Report illegal explosives, like M-80s and quarter sticks, to the fire or police department.
- 2
FAA regulations PROHIBIT the possession and transportation of fireworks in your checked baggage or carry-on luggage.
... in case someone would ever do this? LOL! - 3
Dispose of spent fireworks by wetting them down and place in a metal trash can away from any building or combustible materials until the next day.
- 4
Always have a bucket of water and charged water hose nearby.
- 5
Never relight a “dud” firework. Wait 20 minutes and then soak it in a bucket of water.
- 6
Wear safety glasses when shooting fireworks
