I listed a few places in another post as suggestions for places to go for spring break, Boston, Disney World, and San Diego. I thought I would keep with that, and talk about a few more places that might sound good to you.

Philadelphia - The City of Brotherly Love!

  • The Franklin Institue: This was such a fun museum! There are lots of fun things for both adults and kids to see and do. You can walk through a human heart, check out Space Command, experience the Electricity exhibit, see The Art of the Brick Lego display (see the video here), visit the Benjamin Franklin Memorial, and much more.
  • The Liberty Bell: A trip to Philly would not be complete without seeing the Liberty Bell. There are exhibits that line the hallway with lots of interesting information and historical facts.
  • Independence Hall: Take a tour of one of the most historically famous buildings in our country. You can see the room where both the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution were signed. Pretty cool!
  • I've hear the cheese steaks are good ;-)

I found this Youtube video from Visit Philly:

Pittsburgh - PA's Other Fun City!

  • Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens: This was such a beautiful place to walk around. They had some amazing sculptures mixed in with the gardens when we visited. It's a nice place to go to just walk around and relax.
  • Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium: It's always fun to go to a zoo and see all the cute animals!
  • To check out some of the local breweries you can look into PA Brew Tours or you can go on a food tour with Burgh Bits and Bites.
  • Speaking of food, Primanti Bros. has some delicious sandwiches. The fries and cole slaw are on the sandwich. So good!
  • Duquesne Incline: This was a lot of fun! It was originally opened in 1877 and used by commuters. Now it's a great way for locals and tourists to see beautiful views of Pittsburgh and the three rivers. Plus it's cool to go behind the scenes and see how everything works.
  • Frank Lloyd Wright's Falling Water: This house is amazing! The house is built into the land and it's design is taken from the waterfall it was built on. You can tour this beautiful house. We toured in the winter, and it was beautiful.

Vermont - So much to do in such a beautiful setting!

  • Shelburne Farms: This is a stop for us on every trip. There is a long walking trail that will take you all around the property and past the huge (and I mean HUGE barn). The trail will also bring you to the water and the Inn that sits on the water. It's a beautiful scene. During the warmer months, there are a fair amount of animals to see and pet and other parts of the bar are open as well. For instance, the last time we were there we bought something from the bakery in the barn and it was delicious! They also have a little shop at the beginning of the trail with souvenirs, cheeses, syrups, and more.
  • Church Street Marketplace: Lots of great restaurants and shops along here. It reminds me a little of Quincy Market in Boston, I love just walking around. They also have street performers, depending on the time of the year.
  • Lake Champlain Chocolates Tours: You can visit their factory and get a free through-the-window tour. During the presentation, different types of chocolate will be passed around for you to sample. That's right, the tour is free and you get free chocolate. Then you can shop the store and pick up some really good chocolate. We brought home some different hot chocolates that had a little spicy kick to them. So good!
  • The Breweries: There are a good number of breweries in the Burlington area of Vermont. Check out Vermont Brew Tours for different tours to see the breweries in Vermont.
  • You can get maps for cheese and wine tours too. Plus, there are so many farms in Vermont, you can google to see which ones are open for you to stop by and see. We stopped at a farm that sold some good cheese, but there was no one in the barn. It was by the honor system, so we picked out our cheese and paid. We met a nice cat while picking out our cheese too. It was a nice small town feeling that you got while you were there and it definitely makes you want to stop again on your next trip.
  • You can also take a tour of Ben and Jerry's while in the Burlington area. There are free samples at the end. Need I say more?
  • I found a website that gives you a list of a lot of things you can do in Vermont, including the Vermont Cheese Trail. There really is a lot to do! Check out the website here.
