There are some things that we in Connecticut just get tired of hearing.

Some are things that are assumed by other people, and some are things that just come with living in a northern state.

So here some things I am tired of hearing. What are yours?

"There's nothing to do in Connecticut"

I respectfully disagree. While Connecticut is very centrally located to some great cities (New York, Boston, Philly) we do have our own entertainment here. First of all you have the casinos (Foxwoods and Mohegan). I love the sounds of the slots!

Mystic is a fun place to visit in the warm and cool months. The Mystic Seaport has a fun Lantern Light Tour around Christmas and of course there is the Mystic Aquarium.

Another fun thing to do in Connecticut? The Connecticut Wine Trail! I have friends who got married at one of the vineyards on the trail, McLaughlin Vineyards in Sandy Hook, and it's a beautiful vineyard. Plus, the wedding was so much fun! DiGrazia Vineyards in Brookfield is another vineyard on the trail.

And while we are on the topic of adult beverages, you can also do the Connecticut Beer Trail. Connecticut actually has quite a few breweries. My husband and his friends like check out different breweries in the area and they always have a good time.

Water activities are pretty popular in the warmer months. We certainly don't have a shortage of lakes! Boating is always fun. I had a friend in high school who lived on Zoar Lake and once she got her boating license, the lake is where we spent out summers.

We also have The Maritime Aquarium, SoNo, Gillette Castle, many hiking and biking trails, Beardsley Zoo, Dinosaur State Park, the PEZ Visitor Center, Hammonassat Beach State Park, the Barnum Museum, Lake Compounce, Quassy and so much more. Check out this list for more things to do in Connecticut.

The "S" Word

That's right. We are sick and tired of hearing that word. I tune out when someone says the word, because I'm really beginning to hate it. I am, of course, talking about the word snow. It is seriously becoming a terrible word to hear. Just when you think it's gone for good and spring can finally start, you wake up to snow on your car. I don't care if it's a little amount, I want to see flowers and leaves on trees!! So, yeah...we don't like that word anymore.

The Sound Our Cars Make When Hitting the Potholes

I cringe every time I hear that sound. It happens when I have no choice, but to drive over (or into) a pothole. This winter has left some really bad ones and you don't always have a chance to swerve around them. However, I will say I think most of us would do fine driving in England. Thanks to these potholes I think we have all had some experience driving on the wrong side of the road. Seriously though, the potholes are doing a lot of damage to people's cars. The road crews certainly have their work cut out for them. So let me just say 'thank you' ahead of time!

"Oh, you're from Connecticut? So your family has money then, right?"

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

Ok, I'm done laughing. This one cracks me up. I love how people assume that just because you live in Connecticut you have money.

All of my friends, growing up, came from two income families and we all had jobs once we were old enough to work.

Yes, there are rich people in the state and yes we do have our fair share of celebrities, but that doesn't mean that we are all well-off. And it's annoying when people assume you are.

Your turn! What are some things that you are tired of hearing?
