Higher education going strong in Connecticut. Indeed, something to cheer about.

As the new school year is in full force, it's fantastic to know that two of Connecticut's Universities get a great, if you will, report card.

U.S. News & World Report released the best college rankings for 2017, so if you or someone you know attends one of these Connecticut bastions of higher learning, you have something to crow about. And if college is in your future, here are two places to strive for.

Yale University is again towards the top of a new U.S. News and World Report list of the nation's best colleges. Tying for third in the rankings with the University of Chicago, the two that top Yale are Princeton and Harvard. Pretty impressive.

Yale is third on the list of the best public or private colleges in the country. Princeton again tops the list, followed by Harvard, with Yale and the University of Chicago tied for third. Columbia University, MIT and Stanford are all tied for fifth place.

If an education at Yale isn't in your wheelhouse, then considering UConn would be a fabulous idea. UConn officials announced their new spot in a new ranking of national public universities UConn is 18th on the U.S. News and World Report .The University of Connecticut has moved up two spots from last year, and this is their highest ever rating in the category.
