Usually when we humans imitate dogs, it's rather funny. No self-respecting dog would ever dignify our sad woofs and howls with anything more than a cursory bark—more of an, "Okay, that's very nice, go get me a treat now, please" than actual recognition of a shared language. But watch how these dogs seem genuinely surprised and alarmed by the dog beside them who looks just like a human!

Maybe they do understand us, then again we could be saying something very insulting or off color. Hey none of us ever took "dog as a second language" in school.
